World of Warcraft never had an anti spam system in place when they launched, but they did have an excellent addon system and someone made an anti gold seller addon that blocked them in all channels including whispers (BadBoy), so it is definitely not impossible, and a spam blocker is necessary regardless. You are correct about it being easy for a developer to develop a built in chat monitor/spam blocker. So far even the most primitive of algorithms could block the spam I've been seeing.Įven if they don't ban the bots, they'll still be making new accounts with new names. ![]() ![]() chat that contain anything that looks like a URL.
